Many people in the online MMA community believe New York is voting tomorrow on whether or not to legalize MMA. That is not the case. Rather, this vote is a vote in the New York Assembly Tourism, Arts and Sports Development Committee. This is a preliminary vote that needs to pass in order for this legislation to even get to the floor of the two main chambers of the New York state legislature.
If tomorrow’s vote does pass, it is not even close to the end of this battle, because on top of having to go through main floor debates and votes, there is also the governor’s veto if it eventually passes.
