The fight between Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva represents a battle between two guys that are completely set in their ways, and are very unlikely to change. A lot of analysis of the fight has been about whether Silva will be more cautious, or if Liddell will add more things to his repetoire. I highly doubt either of these things will occur. These men have become legends by doing the things they do. Wanderlei Silva is not going to turn into Lyoto Machida overnight, and Chuck is not going to start adding regular leg kicks to his arsenal.
A lot of people expected Rich Franklin to take Anderson Silva to the ground, and were shocked when he tried to stand. The reality is that he is comfortable standing, and isn’t going to try to become a wholly different fighter overnight. Veteran fighters stick with what brought them to the dance.
Silva is going to come straight forward, and Chuck is going to try to find that missing right hand. If Chuck can find it in time, he wins, but he better find it fast.
