I guess the UFC really did pwn the heavyweight champ if he’s this willing to extend an olive branch:
UFC President Dana White said he will meet Tuesday with Couture, who announced plans to quit the promotion last month despite his standing as heavyweight champion. White said Thursday he received a text message from Couture asking that the two have dinner.
“He said, ‘Can’t we all just get along?’ ” White said while attending a news conference for Saturday night’s UFC 78 pay-per-view show.
The UFC really seems to have this industry by the balls, no? No one gave them the time of day when the sport was in dire straits and slowly but surely, they built themselves a little empire. They inserted themselves into the cultural fabric of combat athletics and embedded themselves into the minds of fight fans and ordinary joes across the globe. Now that MMA is exploding everyone and their brother is trying to get in on the action, but it may be too little too late.
