Normally I don’t like posting press releases, but in the interest of promoting a fighter, I will.

When I interviewed Mike Brown I asked him who is the best pure wrestler in MMA.  Did he say Lindland?  Couture?  Brock Lesnar?  None of the above.  His choice was Brad “One Punch” Pickett.  And courtesy a press release from Bodog, we learn more about that standout wrestler and other members of this very talented cast:

The 29-year-old former Cage Rage British featherweight champion sports a professional MMA record of nine wins and two defeats and takes on newcomer J.R. Sims of Las Vegas. The 23-year-old Sims has just one win and one loss under his belt, but has a strong boxing pedigree and self-proclaimed “heavy” hands.

“He’ll probably want to fight me standing up,” predicts Sims. “That’s okay, because I hit pretty hard, so if he wants to play I’m more than ready!”

Pickett, who has ten amateur boxing fights to his credit, doesn’t mind going toe-to-toe and says he just wants to put on a good show at the beautiful outdoor ring on the sunny shores of Costa Rica.

“I love to entertain,” says Pickett. “That’s why I’ve created a unique ring walk where I enter as a `pikey’, complete with braces (suspenders) and Trilby hat to the song “Wallop” by Chas & Dave. Fans love it.”

Fans should also enjoy watching Florida’s Rafael “The Claw” Dias and Sweden’s Sami Aziz tussle in ring. The 27-year-old Dias trains with American Top Team, and has seven wins and just one defeat, while the 34-year-old Aziz is undefeated in two professional bouts. Despite his light MMA record, Aziz warns that he is no stranger to competition.

“I’ve wrestled twice at the Olympic Games, and was also ranked number one on the Swedish National Boxing Team in the 71-kilogram weight class.”

Season 3 of BodogFight – Bodog Fight: Costa Rica Combat – debuts Tuesday, April 24th at 11 p.m. / 10 p.m. Central on ION Television.  Let’s see if Ayre’s promises and the cast can turn out a decent season.
